So I couldn't help but get another and that was the cure for those 2 games. Pros: Great cards in Crossfire X! To be honest 1 card maxed out just about everything until I got Metro 2033 and the Crysis 2 dx11 upgrade. Shame on you XFX, long time customer and very disappointed.

I'm pretty sure due to the process they have to hand out VERY FEW copies. XFX makes it next to impossible to actually get it.

Drivers update constantly, and by the time you get the card, the drivers are likely 2 or 3 sets behind. First thing you do when you open that box is throw away the disk. ALWAYS go to the site and get the latest drivers.

You should NEVER, EVER install drivers off of the disk. I think they figured only enthusiasts would buy the Black Edition and did not think it necessary.ĥ. But again, you are right, they should have thrown one in there. I thought the stickers were a nice touch, and not having a bridge did not really bother me since i have about 8 laying around. The fan is quite loud on this card, you are right.Ĥ. 100C is known to be the max for most GPU'sģ. My old HD4890 ran at 85C all day every day for 3 years. It seems cards are progressing faster than monitors these days, or else nobody is upgrading their monitors.Ģ. You are right, it should come with an adapter. I also would've recommended the MSI Hawk GTX 460 over the other two you selected but I noticed it is significantly more expensive in the UK =/.Learn more about the XFX HD-685X-ZNBC Model BrandĪMD Advanced Parallel Processing Technology (APP)įorm Factor & Dimensions Card Dimensions (L x H)Īdditional Information Date First AvailableĬons: 1.

I personally have a mix of games which pushed me towards the 6850. If most of your gaming library favors Nvidia especially games you play all the time I'd say the 460 is a better buy. One of the biggest things you should consider is what games you play. Performance wise I have to agree with DBZ, they are pretty much neck & neck at stock depending on the game. The trade off of a noisier card for superior cooling was worth it to me. But with a sound system or headphones you shouldn't hear anything, at least I don't with my case being about two feet away. Regarding noise, I will say it is noticeable if you game with low or no sound under load. I haven't had time to really play around with OCing but will next week and can report my personal findings if you care to know. And so far I've been pretty satisfied, with temperatures sitting around 60C at load on stock with ~22C ambient room temp. Eventually I decided to go with the 6850 specifically the XFX one you linked due to superior cooling. I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago trying to decide between the GTX 460 & Radeon 6850. ALL graphics cards 's just a matter of time, abuse and general usage. The other metrics to consider is warranty length and customer support. The principal difference would arise within certain games, so I would browse the card reviews online and see how the benchmarks stack up in relation to games/game engines that interest you. Note that the XFX card (from reviews) seems noisier than other vendors cards -this may, or may not be a factor for you.Īs for gaming performance I would think there would be very little between them. In general the GTX 460 overclocks higher (as a percentage over stock) for core and gains consistant overclocks -mainly due to being effectively underclocked at core/memory at stock frequencies-while the HD 6850 probably gets the nod for memory OC in general- both will eak out a little more performance- at the cost of increased thermal and noise output. The cards are very similar at stock settings, both should OC - though that is going to be dependant upon luck-of-the-draw. Click to never know when those 12 watts might come in handy.
